If you’ve never been to a Dog Show it’s a lot to take in as an owner let alone a puppy. There are lots of people, dogs, some kids and at least one baby. Lola was fascinated by everything that was going on!
I wasn’t expecting much from Nuala. We hadn’t done much Ringcraft and it was her first show. Boy was I wrong. She settled in, loving all the attention she got from friends, her breeders, her siblings owners – the thing about shows, your dog makes friends for you!
I have been involved with showing my dogs and friends dogs for about seven years now. It started with Loki; the Akita sat proudly at the top of the page, followed by Odin and Dolfi the Rotts. Now we are seeing how Nuala does.
My dogs are first and foremost my pets so dog shows are a fun and social event for us, another thing for us to do together. If your dog enjoys it you will know pretty quickly. They will get in the ring and be ready to do their thing and show themselves off. It’s great for them to experience different environments and socialise as well as the humans.
If you are new to shows and are interested in getting started, get in touch. I can share the basics, de-mystify entry forms and show etiquette. Comment below or on the FaceBook page where this will also be posted so I know the best topics to cover in future posts.
So that’s my adventures with my puppy, now our most recent Puppy Course…..
We are very proud of them, Myself, Chris, Debby and Kerry (baby holder whilst class is in progress) have watched them progress over the last six weeks. They now have their basics and are turning into well mannered canines.
I am happy to say that most of these puppies are coming back for their Bronze KC class so you will be seeing more of these puppies as they grow into well behaved dogs.
Got questions about training? Pop over to the FaceBook page; I would love to hear from you.
